Luminar’s Message Board Protocol
1. Before Posting a Comment
Please read this document carefully before posting a comment as it explains our Protocols for using this message board and in particular it sets out what we regard as being acceptable and unacceptable content.
In deciding what is acceptable, please also respect the other users who post messages and express their opinions on this message board.
2. Use of the Message Board
We welcome feedback from our customers and appreciate the expression of different points of view. To develop a useful discussion or debate on any issue, it helps if you explain your opinion, rather than just stating whether or not you agree or disagree with comments already posted.
Please understand that once you have submitted your opinion online, it can be read by everyone with access to the internet and so you should make your comments as clearly and succinctly as possible to ensure that they are not misunderstood. Don't forget that you are legally responsible for what you submit.
In making a contribution you should:
- always be polite;
- think carefully about what you submit;
- ensure your submissions are relevant to the story or topic; and
- write only in English.
In making a contribution you should not:
- use swear words or crude or sexual language; or
- insult other contributions; or
- discuss the non-appearance or removal of any content; or
- comment on the suspension or termination of any other contributors.
3. Misuse of the Message Board
You must not make or encourage comments which are:
- defamatory, false or misleading;
- insulting, threatening or abusive;
- obscene or of a sexual nature;
- offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic or discriminatory against any religions or other groups.
Please always respect people's privacy. You are not allowed to submit any confidential or private information. For example, you must not upload anyone’s telephone number, email address or other contact details.
You should not write anything which might prejudice and pending or on-going court proceedings. For example, you must not mention any personal knowledge you may have about someone who has been arrested or charged or is being prosecuted for an offence.
You must not directly or indirectly use this message board for any:
- advertising, promotion or sale of goods or services; or
- petition, campaign, sponsorship or chain message; or
- investigation (for example, tracing the whereabouts or locating any person , place or item).
You must not insert links to other websites or submit any content which might be an infringement of copyright belonging to someone else.
You must not pretend to be someone else (e.g. another contributor or an employee of ours).
4. Contact Us
We always aim to maintain high standards of participation on this message board. If you would like to discuss the operation of this message board, please email us on customerservice@luminar.co.uk.
If you consider that a comment does not comply with any aspect of this Protocol or the terms of our website, please contact us on customerservice@luminar.co.uk.
Please try to only report serious complaints rather than raising a grievance simply because you disagree with something that has been written.
5. Removal of Submissions
If any user makes a contribution that contradicts or violates the letter or spirit of these rules or [or the terms of our website we may (at our sole discretion) remove this immediately and without notice to you. If we do remove something, we will generally remove the whole submission. This means that even if only one sentence is objectionable, the whole comment will usually be removed (or not published).
If a comment is removed, this may be for any number of reasons but it will usually be because the comment is the subject of a complaint, or breaks the terms of this Protocol.
Sometimes, the comment may be removed because it is connected to another comment which is being removed.
We may have to remove a contribution for legal reasons and will not be liable to any contributor or affected party if we do this.
If your content has been removed, we may email you to let you know or to inform you if you have been suspended or banned from submitting further comments to this message board.
If you are aware that content has been removed, you must not deliberately re-submit the same content.
6. Temporary or Permanent Suspension
We reserve the right at our sole discretion to suspend or ban any contributor. Some of the reasons why we might do this include without limitation:
- breaching the terms of this Protocol or the terms of our website;
- failing to respect other contributors or readers;
- submitting comments that are abusive to our employees or which demand a disproportionate amount of our time to deal with them
Although bans are generally only for extreme situations or for repeated serious abuse , this is not always the case and so the length of any suspension (or whether we ban someone at all ) depends on the circumstances of each case.
If we suspend or ban you, you must not attempt to re-register or submit content (e.g. using someone else's name or account), without our permission.
We may change, amend or update the terms of this Protocol for any reason from time to time.
